The intimate area has extremely thin, sensitive skin that is rich in nerve endings. Repeated use of a razor, wax or depilatory cream in this area very often triggers painful skin complications: severe irritation, cuts, burns and, above all, the systematic appearance of ingrown hairs. These can become infected (folliculitis) and leave pigmentation spots or small scars. During the session, each laser pulse feels like a sharp tingling and a brief sensation of heat. This device continuously blows air onto the skin at the precise moment of the pulse, which numbs the area and immediately soothes the heat. Why does the full bikini deliver excellent results?
The bikini area is the ideal area for laser hair removal. The hairs there are generally thick, coarse and heavily loaded with melanin (the dark pigment), while the skin, protected from the light, remains light. The light energy is absorbed by the melanin, converted into heat and destroys the hair bulb without damaging the surrounding tissue. How to manage your hair between two laser sessions?
To ensure the session is safe and as comfortable as possible, a few simple habits should be adopted:
It is essential to carefully shave the entire area 24 to 48 hours before the session. The hair must be very short to prevent the laser energy from dispersing on the surface, which will minimise the sensation of heat.
Clean skin: On the day of the session, the area must be perfectly clean, with no residue of oil, moisturiser or scented wipes.
The full protocol requires an average of 7 to 10 sessions, spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart. Throughout this period, one absolute medical rule must be respected: pulling out the hairs is forbidden.
You must put away your tweezers, wax and electric epilator. The laser needs the base of the hair to be present in its follicle in order to target it. If you pull out the hair, the laser will no longer have a thermal conductor and the next session will be ineffective. Between two appointments, you may only use a razor if the regrowth bothers you. Rest assured, the hair will not become coarser, as the root has already been weakened by the action of the medical laser.
