Chest Laser Hair Removal
Chest laser hair removal is one of the most common requests from men at our clinic. Whether motivated by the wish to show off one’s physique, by concerns about thermal comfort and hygiene during sport, or simply by aesthetic preference, this area requires precise treatment.
The chest has very specific hair growth, strongly influenced by male hormones, which requires the use of suitable lasers to achieve a clean and perfectly even result.
The specific features of male chest hair
The chest is a so-called hormone-dependent area. Hormones (such as testosterone) directly regulate the growth, thickness and density of the hair in this area.
- Late development: Unlike the legs, chest hair in men can continue to develop and become denser later in life, often until the age of 35 or 40. If treatment is started in a young man (20-25 years old), it is important to know that new hairs, which did not yet exist, may appear over the years. Annual maintenance sessions will then be useful to maintain the result.
- Managing the surrounding fine hair: The hairs are generally very thick and dense in the centre of the chest (sternum) and around the nipples, but they become finer and turn into fuzz on the sides, towards the armpits or collarbones. Our latest-generation medical lasers allow the intensity and wavelength to be adjusted to destroy coarse hairs without stimulating the surrounding fine hair.
The different treatment options: full removal or thinning?
Chest laser hair removal offers great flexibility to adapt to everyone’s preferences:
Full removal: It aims to remove all the hair on the chest for completely smooth skin. It is the preferred choice of athletes (swimming, cycling, bodybuilding) as it makes massages easier, limits sweating and improves comfort.
Thinning (or density reduction): Some men simply want to lighten hair that they find too invasive or too coarse, while keeping a natural look. By carrying out a reduced number of sessions (3 to 4 instead of a full protocol), the laser makes the hair finer and reduces the density of chest hair without making it disappear.
Procedure, sensations and pace of the protocol
Session length: Chest treatment is relatively quick. Thanks to high-performance medical handpieces, a session lasts an average of 15 to 20 minutes.
Comfort level: The chest is a sensitive area, particularly over the sternum (where the skin lies directly on the bone) and around the nipples. The pulses feel like a sharp, warm tingling. For maximum comfort, our equipment includes a cooling system that continuously pulses icy air to numb the skin and immediately neutralise the heat.
Session schedule: A full protocol generally requires 6 to 8 sessions, spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart at the start, to target the hairs during their active growth phase.
Safety guidelines (Before / After)
Before the session: It is essential to closely shave the chest area 24 hours before the appointment. The skin must not be tanned at all (no sun exposure, tanning beds or self-tanner during the 4 weeks before the treatment) to rule out any risk of burns.
After the session: Slight redness or small temporary swelling (oedema) around the hair follicles is completely normal. It fades within 24 to 48 hours with the application of a soothing cream. Sources of heat (sauna, hammam, very hot showers) and intensive sport should be avoided for 24 hours. Finally, apply SPF 50+ sunscreen if exposed to the sun.
